Breast Cancer Fundraiser July 25, 2009 in Orange Park FL
My awesome coworkers have spent the last 2.5 months organizing a fundraiser for Breast Cancer research.  They did this all in secret and I only found out about it two weeks ago.  The event will be held this saturday, July 25 from 11-3pm at the Chik-Fil-a across from the Orange Park mall in Orange Park FL.  There will be a dunking booth, bouncy house, snow cones, arts and crafts, a car wash and much more.

Everyone is invited to come out and have some fun and help raise $ for the Donna Foundation.

JSO Dart goes after/raids another gay/alternative club
Pearl Raided and shut down:

2 relative/informative comments:

Just concerned! Says:

I just wanted to add some light to the subject. The DART team is headed by Council Member Don Redman (a proud member of First B. Church).

I wonder what the true motivation is behind sutting down businesses that generate revenue for the city during a horrible economic time. I am sure in a year the city will need more increases because they aren’t bringing in enough in tax revenues

The FTU is not properly reporting this story. There is only two JSO officers involved in these raids. They only come along for “security” purposes and presence. The ATF, FBA, fire marshall, and code enforcement are the ones conducting the “raids”. While these agencies are doing what they are suppose to be doing, which is enforcing alcohol regulation laws and building codes (they are not involved in solving murders), I think that it is obvious they are targeting gay establishments. They raided Metro, Incahoots, and Park Place (gay bars) all on Friday nights. These are the club’s busiest nights and it would keep them shut down for the weekend. Thursday night is Pearl’s “gay” night, although it is a very mixed (straight/gay) crowd. I think that anyone accepting of the gay lifestyle should be very concerned.

love roller derby? want to play?
Are you a tough independent girl? Are you interested in playing roller derby? Would you like to meet some great people and have some fun? Can you roller skate? Would pushing a bitch out of your way to help your team win make your day?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions roller derby may be the sport for you.

Girls roller derby is making a huge national come back. Leagues and teams are popping up all over the state of Florida. A&E did a special on Texas girls roller derby. Its an exciting time for the sport.

I am looking to start a league/team here in Jacksonville. I have to support of U.S rollergirls, and the Tampa Bay Derby Dolls league in Tampa has been a wonderful fountain of information and advice.

Please contact me if you are interested in being on the ground floor of something truly incredible.

Ideally I'd like to have a meeting Friday night for all who are interested. Please contact me through livejournal or e-mail me directly at wildprincess269@aol.com.

Hope to hear from you all!

Free to a good home! =(

The cutest and sweetest bunny in the world is up for adoption.   I am completely in love with this bunny, so if anyone is interested they will undergo a severe criminal background check before being approved.  Just kidding.....well, sorta.

Background on bunny: my niece (who lives with me) brought home this bunny 2 months ago without asking me if it was okay.  Now that the bunny is getting bigger it's become more responsibility on my niece that she wasn't prepared to deal with.  Not to mention, it's not tiny any more so I guess she no longer thinks it's cute.  Which pisses me off.  I love this bunny.  No, really. I LOVE this bunny.  It's cute, sweet, friendly, loves to be held, loves being pet.  However, we have a cat.  As a result, the bunny has to stay in a cage for it's own protection.  Which is just cruel.  The poor bunny's quality of life would be much better in a home where it can hop around.

Pro's: Very affectionate, litterbox trained, would make a great Christmas present

Con's: Like's to chew on everything.  There is stuff you can buy that you can spray on things that you don't want the bunny to chew on, but I haven't tested it out.

If anyone is interested or knows anyone who may be interested, please respond!!!!

ROCKY HORROR saturday... update
In response to my last post, there were a lot of questions about being a certain age to get into Eclipse.

There's both good & bad news...

Luckily, it's not 21 & up, but unfortunately it is 18 & up... one of the setbacks of performing at a club. So make sure you bring ID!

Hopefully we will find theater support soon, and perhaps then they won't be quite as strict on age policies. I'm really sorry for those of you under 18, and I'll definitely notify you all once we've scheduled another show.

Hopefully they'll start happening more frequently, and ultimately we'd like to perform monthly or so.

Show starts at 10pm at Eclipse. $5 cover. And have ID!

Psycho Beach Party Auditions!!!
Listen up!! Anyone who wants to be involved with some of the funniest theatre to ever hit Jacksonville, please be advised Far Too Ambitious Productions will be holding auditions for Psycho Beach Party on Saturday, June 18 at 2pm at Players by the Sea, Jacksonville Beach and also on Sunday, June 19 at 2pm at Fuel Coffeehouse, Five Points.

Psycho Beach Party is a spoof on 50's beach movies, 60's psychological thrillers and 70's slasher movies, all rolled into one. And did I mention it's hilarious?!?!

The auditions will consist of cold-readings from the script, so no pressure to learn anything beforehand.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know and I'll do my best to get them answered.

This audition is not just for theatre dorks like me. Anyone and everyone is encouraged to come out to one of the auditions!!
